THE GIANT SCREEN OF LIFE – THE UNIVERSAL LAW OF CORRESPONDENCE

A careful observation of the attitude and mindset of most men and women if not all depicts only one thing and that is ignorance. Our attitudes and responses to life challenges and situations could be likened to that of a certain ignorant village man who had never seen an electronic movie theatre in operation. There is an account I read in a book by one of my great mentors called Emmet Fox, an American spiritual teacher. According to the account, there was a village man who went to watch a movie show that had visited his village. As the movie progressed, there came a scene in which a man was strangling a woman.

The village man watching the scene thought he could do something to help the hapless lady in the movies. He thought the action was a real-life action and therefore, attempted to save the woman. Therefore, he drew his hand and pulled out his gun and shot the image of the man on the screen several times. Unfortunately, his desire to save a desperate woman from a bully brought the whole movie session to a close as the screen was damaged.

In as much as this story sounds funny and presents the man as an ignorant person about how the movie system works. It speaks directly to human being’s approach to life situations. With our ignorance or deliberately ignoring the truth that all life circumstances and situations proceed from within. Just like the man in the story, whenever an uncomfortable situation happens. We simply think that we can address it from outside therefore we pull out our guns in the form of words and vindictive actions to solve the problem. The outcome of this attitude is, the worsening of the situation to a bigger or higher magnitude or creating more of those.

The truth is, just as it is impossible to change the projected movie images on the screen except by going to the computer, in the same way, we cannot solve the life situations that are coming from within us from the outside. This is because we are bound by the universal law of Correspondence just as the movie system is bound by its laws.

One of the laws of the universe that is observable in our lives is the universal law of correspondence. According to this law what we are inside is what we reflect on the outside. By this law, every one of us is compelled to manifest only what we are in our inside or mental world. No one can manifest for another person, that is not possible by law. This law is mostly expressed in the old saying, “as within so without”. The other side of the law is that everything originates from the inside but not from the outside.

Take your whole body into consideration, you know from science or by simple human wisdom and understanding that your formation in your mother’s womb started with the fusion of a sperm and an egg from your father and mother respectively. It was this union of the sperm and the egg that developed on its own into a clot of blood and expanded through the process of growth to become what you call yourself. Everything about your body is an inside job and it is the nature of your inside that is called good health or ill health, riches or poverty, strength or weakness etc.

Whatever you feel or show on the outer is an expression of what you are on the inside. In the same way, states like happiness, joy, unhappiness, sadness etc. exist on the inside and through our physical bodies we express them either by laughing or frowning our faces. Your body does not do all these things but something inside you does all. Your body is just a channel that is used to express what the inside of you is saying or feeling. It is the same as the multimedia presentation set up, the projector and the screen are only channels to present whatever is on the computer disc. The long and short of the story is that what you feel inside is what you will demonstrate on the outside.

Thus your life proceeds from inside to the outside or your outer life is a reflection of your inner state. This is by the operation of the universal law of correspondence. Take a seed of any plant and try to understand how the process of its germination and later growth occurs and you will discover the same law. Given the same soil conditions, it is the inside of the seed that will determine the nature of the strength of the plant. The strength and resilience of a brick are determined by the nature of the individual grains of the sand but not the size of the block necessarily. It is easier to break a brick made of bad sand than to break up a little brick made of pure and good sand.

Everything in the universe is bound by this law that whatever the inside of a thing or a person is must correspond with the outside. The law states that the correspondence must always start from the inside. The human life experiences and this law can be likened to how tainted glass works. If a car is fitted with only tainted glass, the nature of the glass compels you to see things clearly only from inside the car but not from outside. It is hard work and mostly impossible to attempt to look into a car with tainted glasses while standing outside. However, as soon as you enter the car, the outside is completely easy to see.

Your life circumstances are such that you must live in your inside world and once your inside world is kept in order, it will be reflected precisely in your outer world. What you are on the inside is what you will see from the outside world. That also means you cannot change your outer world experience from the outside. It may be like attempting to treat a river that is polluted from the source in the middle of it. For any good result, you must go to the source to address the pollution there.

The corresponding nature of our inner world and our outer world can even be seen clearly by taking into consideration how the multi-media presentation operates. In every multi-media presentation setting, there must be a computer, a projector and a screen. The information to be presented is always on the computer either on the computer disc or a removable device connected to the computer. The computer is then connected to a projector which serves as the channel for presenting the information. With this connection, the projector with its light takes the information from the computer and reflects it on the screen. The screen is a stand-alone device not connected to the computer or the projector but plays an important role in the process as the point to view the projected information.

In the course of the presentation, if the information projected is not the right one, the presenter does not attempt to change the information from either the screen or the projector but from the computer. The computer is the source of the information and per the laws of the system, what is on the computer must correspond with what is on the screen. I believe the makers of these systems knew about human life and the laws that govern us. It is the same thing that they have taken to demonstrate in electronic terms.

Your life is from within you to the outer, therefore, the law of correspondence and the laws of your being require that for you to change your outer experiences, you must first change your within or inside world.

In the human life arrangements. Your mind or your soul, subconscious mind, inner being etc. the name does not matter but the knowledge that there is something powerful within you that creates your outer experiences matters. That thing within you is the computer that you have been given, what you feed your subconscious mind is that it will take and form your outer experiences and project it into your outer world. The projector is your five senses through which you project your inner states onto the world. Your environment including your fellow human beings, your surroundings to mention but a few are the giant screen upon which you view your creations or your life movies.

If you are sad and moody inside, by the law of correspondence, your face and your entire mood must correspond to that. That is the projector you are using to express your inner reality to the world. You are viewing your own life just as you view the movie images on the screen through your environment. The first and biggest is your fellow human beings. You will receive feedback from your own friends, co-workers and community members. If they tell you that you have a moody personality, don’t go after them but thank them for that, that is your screen showing your movie to you. If you go after them with anger and resentment or demand that they must change their feedback, then you are like the ignorant American who shot the movie screen to save an innocent woman in a movie.

From their feedback take corrective actions in your mind by changing your thought process from negative to positive. Find something that will bring you relief and dwell upon it and as you do your inner peace will again be projected by your body to them and they will again affirm that for you. Your friends, co-workers and family members will give you the feedback whenever they do so, take it in good fate in the spirit of understanding how things work in the universe. It is a universal truth though mostly frowned upon by people for reasons rooted in traditions and religion that you are the creator of your realities knowingly or unknowingly all by the operation of the law and the use of your mind.

You cannot change your life circumstances and situations by merely praying and weeping over them. You cannot demand this change from others too for everything is within you. As within, so without, as above so below and as in heaven, so on earth. You will know them by their fruits are the expression of the universal law of correspondence. Pay attention to what you see, feel or experience in your life, and pay the same attention to what others are telling you about your moods and demeanor. They are your giant screen upon which the universe communicates to you about your inner states.

On a collective basis, the same law applies to every group of people as groups are the aggregate of individuals. It is the collective consciousness of the group of people that defines its outlook, this could be a nation, a race or any human grouping. What they have within them individually and collectively is that they will project into the world. Qualities such as beauty, peace and calmness to mention but a few are all products of our inner states. The level at which they have such qualities or not is that reflected in their lives as a community, nation or race. If anyone tries to change it for them from the outside that will be impossible. The person may succeed to some extent but sooner than later they will reset back to what is within them because of the law. The law does not change to suit us but we must change to meet the law.

This truth can be deduced from the difference in lifestyle and ways of life among human beings. If you go to any community or nation of people that have developed their inner state to beauty and greatness, you will see this in their lives. In the same way, if you go to another community or nation and their inner state is devoid of beauty and greatness you will equally see it through their lives. When Jesus Christ stated that you will know them by their fruits, he was putting forward the universal law of correspondence. James Allen also stated the same law in a different tone. According to James Allen, the outer condition of a person is harmoniously linked to his or her inner state. That is the law of correspondence, also known as “as within so without.
